West Ridge Cares believes that God uses our resources to change lives. When we grow to care about the things God cares about, we use whatever He’s given us to accomplish his purpose for our world. If you are looking to Share Generously this coming holiday season, here are some upcoming opportunities.

School Break Food Boxes

West Ridge provides Thanksgiving & Christmas Food Boxes to help feed 45 Huff Elementary families in need during these school breaks. How can you help?

Thanksgiving Break Boxes

  1. Pick up our Thanksgiving box and a small grocery list (cost is approximately $40) on Sunday, November 12th in the lobby.

  2. Shop for the items on the list, please no extras, it’s important to stick to the list.

  3. Return the filled box to West Ridge on Sunday, November 19th, it is crucial that you return on this date.

Christmas Break Boxes

  1. Pick up our Christmas Break box and a small grocery list (cost is approximately $40) on Sunday, December 10th in the lobby.

  2. Shop for the items on the list, please no extras, it’s important to stick to the list.

If you are interested in volunteering we could use your help to pass out boxes, check the contents of the returned boxes, and help with delivery to Huff. We will also have an opportunity for Christmas as well.

Your generosity will help feed these kids who typically receive two meals a day through U-46. For questions, contact Lisa or Jana.

Santa’s Workshop Toy Sale

Our annual Toy Sale is Saturday, December 2nd from 9:00 – 11:00 am at Huff Elementary in Elgin.  Families from the Huff community and Fellowship Housing moms will be able to shop and find gifts for their children for Christmas. We need your help and generosity to make this happen.

Donate Toys

Do you have unused or gently used good toys lying around your house? You can unclutter your home and do something good by donating those toys to the Huff and Fellowship Housing community this Christmas!

  • Please only donate gently used, cleaned, all pieces intact and grouped together. We want to provide good stuff for these kids!

  • If you don’t have any toys in your home and want to donate,  you can also purchase a brand-new item from Target, Meijer, and/or Walmart.

  • Drop off toys in the large donation box on SUNDAYS in the West Ridge Lobby through November 26th. Please do not leave any items outside the building.

  • If you need to make special arrangements simply email the West Ridge Cares Team.

Volunteer at Santa’s Workshop

We will definitely need all of Santa’s helpers for this service opportunity.  Please register to volunteer to be a Check-in Greeter, Shopper Assistant, Set-up Crew, Car Loader, Take-down Crew, and Cashier at Huff Elementary (801 Hastings St, Elgin) on December 2nd.  It is also a huge plus if you speak Spanish fluently, this will be super helpful to help these families shopping.

Set-up for Santa’s Workshop will be on Friday, December 1st from 4:00 pm – 6:00 pm.
