Ragged Prayer
Darren Sloniger

I believe that I am saved by the unconditional grace of God. There is nothing I can do to make God love me any more and there is nothing I can do to make God love me any less. And because of that, I come before you Jesus. Just as I am and not as I should be.

I come to you with all of my past, all of my baggage, all of my sin and lay it at your feet. Jesus I ask that you take it from me and free me from all that holds me back from giving myself fully to you.

I ask that you fill me with compassion, humility and patience.  Give me the strength to forgive myself and others as you have forgiven me.  Give me the focus to keep my heart set on you and not on earthly things and the problems of this world.

I come before you right now Jesus and give you my life not in part but the whole. I ask that you will give me the strength to rise up and walk firmly in my faith until the very end.

St. Patrick’s Breastplate Prayer (variation)

Awake my soul and understand that I cannot stand on my own.  In the times that I stumble and fall.
When I find myself covered in the muck and mire of this world.  Rise up in the strength of God who holds me.  Awake my Soul and see.

God’s eye to look out for me, God’s ear to hear me, God’s hand to guide me, God’s shield to protect me
from snares of evil, and shame of my past. From the temptation of vices and those who seek to hold me back from what’s good in my life. I arise.

Awake my soul and see Christ is with me. Christ before me, Christ behind me, Christ in me, Christ beneath me, Christ above me, Christ on my right, Christ on my left, Christ when I lie down, Christ when I arise, Christ in the heart of every man who thinks of me, Christ in the mouth of everyone who speaks of me, Christ in every eye that sees me.

Awake my soul and rise.  I Arise today in the strength of God into whose grace I now fall.
In whose Grace I now stand.
