This is Stu ( pictured above in hat ). He us our “Nica Guy”. He is usually the answer to most questions. “Where are the paint brushes?” Or ” What is this guy saying to us in Spanish?”. The answer? ” Ask Stu”.
So, when I was feeling a bit stuck on what to write this blog about – I asked Stu. I asked him what was one thing that he would want Americans to know about the Nicaraguan people. And here is what he said:. “That’s a tough question to answer. I have traveled a lot, and when I do, I don’t see any differences between people. To me we are all the same.”
What a great answer. God calls us to love one another not for our differences, but for how we are the same. We are all human. We all breath air. We all have the capacity to love. We are all loved unconditionally by the same God.
When I look at the people here next to me, I see a group that came here with love in their heart and a desire to help in whatever way they were asked. This group is here to serve others the way that they need to be served, and not the way we want to serve. Everyone has done what was asked of them without complaint. We are serving side by side with this community to help them. Not because they are different, but because we are the same.
